Bed and Breakfast Dartmoor
Off the A386 Tavistock to Okehampton road lies the village of Peter Tavy. Rose Cottage, a slate hung cottage is on the edge of the village and sits in a pretty cottage garden full of bird song and flowers. The ideal place if you are looking for a Bed and Breakfast on Dartmoor.
There are three bedrooms for guests to enjoy...
The Blue room
Decorated with toile de jouy fabric, is very large and airy with a sumptuous super king-size bed, TV and DVD player. The spacious adjacent bathroom has a bath and separate shower, large dressing table and several mirrors.
The Rose room
The Rose room has a king-size bed, pretty soft furnishings and is hung with original floral water colours, all by a local artist. There is also a connecting twin bedded room called the Sophie Bedroom which can be used as a family suite. There is an adjacent bathroom with a shower over the bath.
Breakfast is served on a Georgian dining room table in the cosy dining room either full English, or continental, or a combination of both.
After breakfast, visit the beautiful 11th century church of Saint Peter, then walk on up to the moor and enjoy the high sky and gentle rolling hills of wonderful Dartmoor with all its majestic Tors and deep hidden valleys.
When you have feasted your eyes on the wild ponies, black-face sheep and all colours of moorland flowers, heather and bracken and your lungs are full of fresh pure air, retrace your steps and just by the church you will find the 15th century Peter Tavy Inn.
Now that you have refreshed your spirits with the joy of the Moor, refresh the inner man (and woman) with delicious freshly cooked food and real ale offered by your hosts Chris and Joe and their charming and friendly staff. The perfect end to a perfect day, then after supper the short walk back to Rose Cottage, a cosy bed and sweet dreams!
Rose Cottage Dartmoor
There is of course much to choose from if you are looking for a holiday break on Dartmoor. I believe that Rose Cottage positioned as it is in the peaceful village of Peter Tavy, on the moor and next to the bustling market town of Tavistock makes a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the delights of this part of Devon.
